Howard County (Iowa)
The Howard County is a county located in the U.S. state of Iowa. In the census in 2010, the County had 9566 inhabitants and a population density of 7.8 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Cresco.
Geography
The County is located in northeast Iowa on the border of Minnesota and has an area of 1,227 square kilometers, of which one square kilometers of water surface. It borders the following Nachbarcountys:
History
The Howard County formed in 1851 from parts of the former Chickasaw County. It was named after General Tilghman Ashurst Howard, a congressman from Indiana.

According to the census in 2010 lived in Howard County 9566 people in 4049 households. The population density was 7.8 people per square kilometer.
The racial the population was composed of 98.1 percent white, 0.3 percent African American, 0.1 percent Native American, 0.3 percent Asian and other ethnic groups; 0.8 percent were descended from two or more races. Regardless of ethnicity, 1.2 percent of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.
