Pierrepont-sur-Avre

Pierrepont- sur -Avre ( Picard: Pierpont -su -Avre ) is a northern French village with 1411 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region. The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Montdidier, is part of the Communauté de communes Avre Luce Moreuil, in the canton Moreuil.

Toponymy and geography

Pierrepont ( Steinbrück, Petrapons mentioned as already in 1198 ) is situated on the left bank of the Avre, joins the community in the area of ​​Trois Doms, 8 km south-southeast of Moreuil at the department road D935 (formerly Route nationale 35). The municipality is the village of Hamel and the Department of Contoire road with the D83 located beyond the Trois Doms Hargicourt in which the breakpoint Hargicourt - Pierrepont SNCF is located on the railway line Amiens -Compiègne, grown together.

History

After starting the weaving in the 18th century in the 19th century was a diverse small-scale industry. The leper in 1697 united with the Hôpital St Charles in Amiens. During the First World War battles took place in 1918 in Pierrepont, in which the location was partially destroyed. From the priory of Notre- Dame, has received little more than a chapel.

The municipality received the Croix de guerre as a distinction from 1914 to 1918.
