Samuel Wright Mardis

Samuel Wright Mardis (* June 12, 1800 in Fayetteville, Lincoln County, Tennessee; † November 14, 1836 in Talladega, Talladega County, Alabama) was an American lawyer and politician.

Career

Samuel Wright Mardis received an academic education. He attended an old field school. Then he studied law, was admitted to the bar and began 1823 in Montevallo (Alabama ) to practice. He also pursued a political career. He was 1823-1825 and in 1828 and 1830 a member of the House of Representatives from Alabama. Thereafter, he was elected as Jacksonian in the 22th U.S. Congress and re-elected in the following 23 U.S. Congress. He served in the U.S. House of Representatives on 4 March 1831 to 3 March 1835. Mardis then moved to Mardi (Alabama ), where he worked as a lawyer again. He died in 1836 in Talladega and was buried there in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
