Schretstaken

Schretstaken is a municipality in the district of Lauenburg, in Schleswig- Holstein. The municipality consists of the villages large and small Schretstaken.

History

Schretstaken was founded in 1407 and belonged from 1452 to 1937 exclave of the Hanseatic city of Lübeck. Through the Greater Hamburg Act of 1937 Schretstaken came to the Duchy of Lauenburg. On April 1, 1939, the small community Schretstaken (then 94 inhabitants) incorporated.

However, the city of Lübeck remained the owner of about 215 acres of forest in two separate sections: Ohlenwegen, 85 ha, and Riepe wood, 130 ha Schretstaken formed until 1973 an independent forest district, but is now managed by the Forestry Department Lübeck Behlendorf. The forester's house Schretstaken on the road to Talkau burned down in February 1978 and was dismantled in 1980.

The wave bar symbolizes towards the Schiebenitz, a stream of the place. The other motifs show the long hunting tradition of the place. The oak in the upper half coat of arms stands for the forests of the place, which also serve basic food and refuge for the wild boar. The Boar Spear shown, however, has only museum significance today.
