Thennes

Thennes ( Picard: Teinne ) is a northern French village with 469 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011 ) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region. The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Montdidier, is part of the Communauté de communes Avre Luce Moreuil, in the canton Moreuil.

Geography

Thennes lies on the right ( eastern ) bank of the Avre at the confluence of Luce, which separates the town from the neighboring Berteaucourt -lès- Thennes, at the department of Road D935 (formerly Route nationale 35). Through the village the railway line runs from Amiens to Montdidier.

History

Thennes was dependent on the abbey of Corbie since 780. During the First World War, the church suffered considerable damage, in particular in the war year 1918. She received the Croix de guerre as a distinction from 1914 to 1918.
