Arvillers

Arvillers ( Picard: Arvili ) is a northern French village with 760 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) by the Somme in the Picardie region. The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Montdidier, is part of the Communauté de communes Avre Luce Moreuil, in the canton Moreuil.

Geography

The church in the countryside Santerre is located south of the generously -developed department of road D934 (formerly Route nationale 334) from Amiens to Noyon about 11 km northwest of Roye at the department of road D54. With the 1965 connected former municipality Saulchoy -sur- Davenescourt it extends south to the Avre.

History

The municipality's territory Stone Age objects and the remains of two Gallo- Roman villas were found. 1653, the village and the church were sacked by Spanish troops.

The municipality received the Croix de guerre as a distinction from 1914 to 1918.

  • The 1928 rebuilt church of Saint -Martin at the site of the old church was destroyed in the First World War from the 17th century with Stations of the Cross by Henri Marret from the year 1929.
