Berteaucourt-lès-Thennes

Berteaucourt -lès- Thennes ( Picard: Bérteucourt - Teinne ) is a northern French village with 443 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2011) in the department of Somme in the Picardie region. The municipality is located in the arrondissement of Montdidier, is part of the Communauté de communes Avre Luce Moreuil, in the canton Moreuil.

Geography

Berteaucourt lies on the right ( northern ) bank of the Luce, which separates the town from the south adjacent Thennes, at the mouth of the Avre, and at the Department road D935 (formerly Route nationale 35).

History

The story of Berteaucourt is closely linked with that of Thennes, whose parish it always belonged. Thennes was dependent on the abbey of Corbie since 780. Berteaucourt was the seat of a rule, until the French Revolution of De Berteaucourt family. During the First World War, the castle and the town were wide gehnd destroyed, but rebuilt. The municipality received the Croix de guerre as a distinction from 1914 to 1918. In 1956 the name was changed from Berteaucourt in Berteaucourt -lès- Thennes.
