Eddelak is a municipality in the south of the district Dithmar in Schleswig -Holstein.

Geography

Except Eddelak are also Behmhusen, Theeberg and Warferdonn in the municipality.

History

The earliest evidence of settlements of Eddelak go back to the Roman empire. In 1877 the village was southwest a Germanic settlement flat layer of approximately 6 ha found archaeologically. The story Eddelaks is divided into the history of the parish Eddelak and the history of the modern community Eddelak.

Structures

The baroque brick church of St. Mary was built in 1740 by master builder Johann Georg Schott on the foundation of its predecessor. It is designed as a simple hall building with high, arched windows on a rectangular plan. The interior is completed by a wooden trough vault under the east hipped gable roof. In the north and south protect the side entrances ever a boss, rectangular porch. Immediately before the west pediment stands on its own foundation in 1676 renewed the wooden bell tower.

Bell tower and church are thus the oldest buildings in the former parish Eddelak.

Education

In the late 1960s a village community school was built in Eddelak. The communities Averlak, things and Eddelak funded the project jointly. Was not built on a greenfield site, but on a dune. Around the school building sites have been identified, created houses and it was followed by a kindergarten.

Traffic

The opened in 1878 by Swiss city Elmshorner Railway Company Eddelak station was decommissioned on 27 May 1988. The bus lines 2507 and 2509 ( Dithmarschenbus ) connect today almost exclusively in school transport Bahnhofstrasse in Eddelak with Brunsbuttel and Meldorf.
