New churches is a municipality in the district of Dithmarschen in Schleswig-Holstein.

Geography

The row house is located between the two cities and Heide Wessel Buren. New churches is still largely agricultural. The village is transverse to the loose settlement areas oats and wiping Tödienwisch in the west and Böddinghusen, bare peat and Tiebensee in the south. In the district is located with the White Moor last raised bog in Schleswig- Holstein march.

History

The Church in New Church was first mentioned in 1323. It was founded by the families of the settlement Dithmarsch Hödienmannen and Tödienmannen the St. James the Great in honor. It was a spin-off from the older parish Wesselburen and was the beginning of the 14th century an independent parish. Thus, the medieval development of the land was also completed in the vermoorte Sietland, which had begun after the Bedeichung the Dithmarsch Norder march in the 12th century. In the years 1704 and 1729 the church building burned down. The eventful history, but also the derivation of the place name ( New churches = the new church ) has led to house the church as the main character in the municipal coat of arms. Attractions

The Saint Jacobi Church is one of the oldest cultural monuments Dithmarschens. It was built in the 14th century. After it burned down, the walls are from the original church, however, only present that were used in the construction of a new building in 1730.
