Reinsbüttel is a municipality in the district of Dithmarschen in Schleswig-Holstein.

Geography and transport

The village lies on the railway line Büsum - Heide ( Holstein ) Neumünster.

Geographical Location

Reinsbüttel between Süderdeich and Oesterdeichstrich, formerly led built in 1585 Wehrdamm about Reinsbüttel at that island Büsum. The village lies on a originally built in the 12th century Langwurt. These were used as opposed to the Dorfwurten most especially the Saxon trade - in Reinsbüttel handled by a small North Sea port. By further embankments Reinsbüttel 1609 lost direct access to the North Sea.

History

Reinsbüttel lies on a Dorfwurt, which shows that it originally lay close to the sea and was threatened by storm surges. Only with the reclamation of Büsum 1585 it lost the direct connection to the sea. The predominantly agricultural area was a pioneer of industrialization in small Dithmar. Shortly after the Dithmarsch had discovered how profitable the cabbage cultivation in the region was (see also Dithmarsch carbon days) was established here in 1898 the first sauerkraut factory in the region.

Since the local elections of 2013, the voters Community WGR has all nine seats in the municipal council.

The coat of arms of Reinsbüttel is divided by the symbolic Wart stream into two halves. The thatched house is reminiscent of the first settlement. The green background represents the colors of the marshes. The farm wagon bears witness to the heavy agricultural work and domestic crafts. The golden background symbolizes ripe grain fields.

Reinsbüttel is one of the strongholds of the Boßelns in Dithmarschen.
