Acht

Eight is a municipality in the district of Mayen -Koblenz in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Vordereifel, which has its administrative headquarters in Mayen.

Geographical location

The place is located in the Eifel region in the valley of the eight Erbach and is part of the protected landscape area " Rhein- Ahr -Eifel ".

History

The writing testified history dates back to the year 1110.

On June 23, 2003 passed over the city, a tornado of F3 strength, which did not lead to death.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms description reads: "Under a golden head of the shield, is a blue wave beams in red two golden deer antler, including a golden cross ".

The deer antler play on St. Hubertus, the patron of the local chapel at. The local church carries the coat of arms since 1996.
