Hirten
Shepherd is a municipality in the district of Mayen -Koblenz in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Vordereifel, which has its administrative headquarters in Mayen.
Geographical location
The place is located west of Mayen on the B 258 ( Koblenz - Aachen ) in the central eastern Eifel high about 460 m above sea level, the village of Cross Nick about 480 above sea level.
History
Shepherd is first mentioned in 936 as Herdiga documented.

The local council in pastoral consists of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.
Coat of arms
The coat of arms description reads: " Under blue shield with silver tongs main, of Silver Blue divided diagonally to the left, above a red Latin cross, down a golden shepherd blade with hook ".
Attractions
Center of the village of shepherds is the Apollonia Chapel.
Economy
Both places are no longer dominated by agriculture today, but on Mayen oriented toward commuter communities.
