Kettig is a municipality in the district of Mayen -Koblenz in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Weissenthurm.
Climatically, conveniently located on the edge of the Neuwied Basin, the agricultural areas of the community are increasingly of specialty crops (especially the sustainably managed elder ) coined.
Kettig is first mentioned in a written source as Ketichi in Gau May Field in a document of the monastery of Echternach from the second quarter of the 10th century. Other forms of the name after 1200 were Ketge, Ketghe, Ketige and Kettich. From the 13th to the 16th century, the abbey of St. Thomas land and interest-bearing assets in Kettig.

The local council in Kettig consists of 20 council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 a proportional representation, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

The blazon is: "Divided; above in red with a silver, blue crocheted änderter eagle, below in silver, a continuous red beams cross. "
The red cross is reminiscent of the Electorate of Trier, one of whose official mountain Care Kettig. The eagle is the emblem of the Knights of Kettig taken, who owned a castle house in the village and whose line became extinct in the 17th century. They led a coat of arms in a red shield a white eagle with blue studs.
Kettig is the location of two schools: the elementary school and the Anne Frank School ( special school ).
