Scores is a municipality in the district of Mayen -Koblenz in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality May Field, which has its headquarters in the city Polch.

Geography

Notches located three kilometers west of Polch on a sloping north and west ridge. South-west rises the Kaaner head ( 267 m above sea level. NN ). Geographically, can the west of the municipal district with the capital of the Lower Valley Maifelder assign the section to the east and north-east of it lies the low Maifelder height and the height of Mount Carmel. History

Notches is first mentioned in a deed in 981 as bird's mouth. This year, the Archbishop of Trier, Egbert of Holland gave the Paulinerstift in Trier called a good bird's mouth. However, native finds during excavations gave testimony about an outdated available at this time settlement, which dates back to the Stone Age.

The local council in notches consists of eight council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 of personalized proportional representation, and the honorary mayor as chairman. The eight seats on the council are divided into two groups of voters.

Coat of arms

The blazon is: " From silver divided over blue, two red top diagonally opposite each other fallen wedges, below a white feather and white paper or parchment scroll crossed ".

The upper part refers to the patron saint of the parish church of St. Goar notches, while the lower part refers to the patron saint of Minkelfelder church, dedicated to St. Mark the Evangelist.

Traffic

Notches located in the transport association Rhein-Mosel. The nearest railway stations are loams and Kobern -Gondorf on the Mosel route Trier -Koblenz (each 10 to 11 km southeast of notches ) and door to the Pellenz -Eifel -Bahn Emperor Esch- Andernach (12 km north-west ). Bus number 353 of the Koblenz transport service provides weekdays direct connections of notches to Koblenz.

In the north of the municipal territory, the federal motorway 48 Koblenz -Trier runs; the nearest interchanges are Polch and Ochtendung.
