The following table contains all the cities that according to the census in 2011 had more than 200,000 inhabitants, as well as the results of the censuses in 1991 and 2001. Listed is also the parent administrative entity (State and Union Territory), to which the city belongs. Country's capital is New Delhi. The population figures are based on the city or town in its political boundaries, without politically independent suburbs.
