After the successful election of the President of the Italian Association Renato di Rocco said: " This is a victory for Italian cycling, a victory for the great Tuscan cycling tradition. "

In October 2012, the announcement of the World Cup mascot for ridicule made in public. Shortly after Lance Armstrong after years of fraud got his seven Tour titles stripped, gave the UCI Pinocchio, whose nose grows with every lie, as the official advertising character known. The UCI, however, had a completely different grounds for the choice of the mascot. "Our Pinocchio is connected to his roots, happy, athletic and attentive ," it said on the website of the World Cup. Furthermore, Pinocchio look to the horizon and thus push out an optimistic attitude about the future concerns.
