Hammer an der Uecker

The municipality is part of the hammer ad Uecker Office Torgelow - Ferdinandshof and is located in the district of Vorpommern - Greifswald in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern. Until 24 March 1994, the community was called a hammer Uecker.

Geography

The municipality with the associated Liepe district on the west bank of the river Uecker surrounded by the Ueckermünder Heath. The area around the hammer is flat and wooded. East of the Strait of hammer after Liepe is a part of a military training area ( Stallberg - Drögeheide - Woodpecker Mountain - Karpin ). Still belongs to the municipality of forestry development.

History

The name Hammer suggests that the bog iron deposits were processed in the area since the Middle Ages. When in 1756 an ironworks in the near Torgelow was built, the place was under the hammer there lodge management.

The reported and wooded area surrounded by the Ueckermünder Heath offers convenient residential locations for which the municipality has created good conditions. The road and path network has been restored in recent years.

Policy

In the state elections in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern in 2011 voted 26 percent of the voters for the NPD (2006: 18.1 ), 24 percent for the CDU ( 28.9 ), 21.9 percent for the SPD ( 21.3 ) and 15, 3 percent for the Left ( 15.3 ).

Transport links

From the B 109 (Berlin- Greifswald) is reached by the developed country road 32 to Hammerfest on the Uecker, to the north there is a road link via Torgelow after Ueckermuende. Three miles from Hammer of Jatznick train station is on the main railway line between Berlin and Stralsund.
