Hintersee (Vorpommern-Greifswald)

Hintersee is a municipality in the district of Vorpommern - Greifswald in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern on the German- Polish border. It is at the Szczecin Lagoon, based in Eggesin managed by the Office.

Geographical location

Hintersee is Vorpommern in the far east. With the lake behind the ( drained ) is a former Ahlbecker lake - today the nature reserve lake bed - meant. Amidst the Ueckermünder Heath Hintersee is surrounded by forests and watery landscape. By the Szczecin Lagoon, there are nine kilometers. The nearest town ( Eggesin ) is 15 km away, the town Pasewalk 22 km. North of the village are the Neuwarper lake and the Szczecin Lagoon, east of the Great Skirmish Lake Neuchatel. Through his Fennlandschaft the area has a diverse flora and fauna.

History

In the field of Ueckermünder Heath tar was burned in the 17th century and smoldering charcoal. Starting point of the development background of the lake was present Zopfenbeck district in which until 1940 was still Kohlenschwelerei operated. This site was created in 1743 as a colony on the south bank of the then Ahlbecker lake. With the draining of swamps and further draining of the lake in the Randow and over the devil digging into the lake slowly Neuwarper was the long-drawn village Hintersee. The inhabitants have traditionally lived from the wood processing and agriculture. Beginning of the 20th century, economic development in Hintersee with the connection to the railway network - a sawmill and a dairy were built. A sports club was founded, the cycling club in 1906 "Fresh Up". Today, some half-timbered houses tell of these early days.

Around the year 1930, the boundaries of the municipality Hintersee a surface area of 3.9 km ², and in the municipality stood together 130 houses in four different places of residence:

In 1925 the community had 850 inhabitants Hintersee, which were distributed to 217 households.

By 1945, the demarcation line Stettin - Neuwarp was partly on the Polish and partly on the German side. The German share was spent as reparations to the Soviet Union.

The population has since 1990 - as in Western Pomerania as a whole - declined.

Until 1945, the city forester's house Entepöl belonged to the municipality Hintersee. After the Second World War was forest house Entepöl on Polish territory and was renamed Dobieszczyn.

  • In the Ueckermünder Heath are in the vicinity of the village on the road from Ueckermuende to Szczecin Barnim the so-called cross and a memorial stone. The two monuments are at the point where the Barnim II after the announcement in 1295 to have been stabbed by the Knight Vidanz Muckerwitz from Vogelsang.
  • On the hiking path in Ludwigshof along the former railway line wooden sculptures were set up which arose on a wooden sculpture symposium of the cultural work - Vorpommern Ueckermuende eV.
  • The painter and graphic artist Klaus Parche ran until 2007, a gallery in Hintersee. Today, his paintings can be seen in Ueckermuende. The old gallery is now occupied private.
  • In the local sports club " Frisch Auf " 1906 Hintersee eV, among other artistic cycling, volleyball, cycling and bowling are on the program.
  • The traditional folk Hinterseer sports festival at Whitsun (including the individual time trial over 17 km on Whit Monday ) is a sporting highlight in the region with numerous participants.

Village Church

The St. John's Church in Hintersee was completed in 1899. At the building site was previously an old half-timbered barn, which was provided with wheels and offset - a remarkable process at that time. The barn is still standing today. The church is a neo-Gothic building with a slender tower. 1985 and 1990 were performed renovation work ( choir, copper roof).

From the west, you cross Eggesin or Ueckermuende - Luckow, Ahlbeck and Gegensee. The northern route via Ludwigshof consists of cobblestones. The road from the south (from Löcknitz ) similar at the beginning of the 1990s, Ludwig Hofer route consisted of a mixture of sand, cobbles and large potholes from Rothenklempenow, has now also with the Ortsdurchfahrten (2013 ) built new in Grunhof and glassworks.
