Louis Washington Turpin

Louis Washington Turpin ( born February 22, 1849 in Charlottesville, Albemarle County, Virginia; † February 3, 1903 in Greensboro, Hale County, Alabama ) is an American politician (Democratic Party).

Career

Louis Washington Turpin moved to the death of his parents and his sister to Alabama and settled in 1858 in Perry County down. Turpin completed a self-educated, and then went farming activities after. He also worked 1873-1880 as Steuereinschätzer. In addition, he spent six years as Chairman of the Democratic Committee of Hale County. Turpin ran unsuccessfully for a seat in the 48th Congress, but was later elected to the 51st Congress, where he served until June 4, 1890 March 4, 1889. His election was successfully challenged by John V. McDuffie. Then he was re- elected to the 52nd and 53rd U.S. Congress. He served in the U.S. House of Representatives on 4 March 1891 to 3 March 1895. In his nomination for the 54th U.S. Congress, he suffered a defeat and then withdrew from the political scene.

Turpin died 1903 in Greensboro (Alabama ) and was buried at the city cemetery.
