Thomas William Sadler

Thomas William Sadler (* April 17, 1831 near Russellville, Franklin County, Alabama, † October 29, 1896 in Prattville, Autauga County, Alabama) was an American lawyer and politician (Democratic Party).

Career

Thomas William Sadler moved in 1833 with his parents to Jefferson County ( Alabama). Then he moved in 1855 Autauga County, where he pursued commercial activities. After the outbreak of the American Civil War he enlisted voluntarily in Confederate Army and served in the Division under the command of General Joseph Wheeler. After the war he went to agricultural activities. He also studied law, was admitted to the bar in 1867 and then began to practice in Prattville. Later he worked 1875-1884 as County Superintendent of Education. Sadler was elected to the 49th U.S. Congress. During his re-election attempt in the 50th U.S. Congress, he suffered a defeat. He served in the U.S. House of Representatives on 4 March 1885 to 3 March 1887. After the end of his term he resumed his work as a lawyer again.

Sadler died in 1896 in Prattville (Alabama ) and was buried there in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
