Völschow

Völschow is a municipality in the district of Vorpommern - Greifswald in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern. It belongs to the Official Jarman - Tutow.

History

Völschow was first mentioned in 1249 and is probably of Slavic origin. 1269 the place of Duke Barnim II was given to the Benedictine monastery Verchen. During the First War of Succession rügischen the decisive battle between the army of Henry II of Mecklenburg and a common troop contingent of Gützkower counts and the cities of Pomerania and Altentreptow took place near Völschow in April 1328. 1334 Verchener the monastery replaced the Völschow against Trittelwitz, at times the place was different aristocratic landlords. After the introduction of the Reformation in 1534 Völschow came as ducal Dominialdorf to the Official Klempenow. During the Thirty Years' War Völschow was destroyed. 1820 the now Prussian city of Anklam county was assigned to the district Demmin.

1932 Good Jagetzow was settled.

  • Church Völschow: Feldstein hall with rectangular choir from the second half of the 15th century. The west tower of field stone was erected in 1856 or 1860. Are incised medieval sundials, inside a rare pneumatic organ built in 1934 by the organ builder Grüneberg from Stettin on the Schiffssüdseite.
