Welmbüttel

Welmbüttel is a municipality in the district of Dithmarschen in Schleswig-Holstein. There lies the center of the so-called Dithmarsch Switzerland.

History

The origins of the village are to be determined today only with archaeological resources. However, the first written records have a special significance. The Church in Tellingstedt can be seen as a Church of Meldorfer church. In the texts of the founding of this church Welmbüttel time is not mentioned.

Like many other communities Dithmarschens is also Welmbüttel mentioned in the complaints of 1447 ( deed book Michelsen p. 45 /46). Here can be mentioned in 1402 in the statement of the text the year. It is there, " ... as you wrote fourteen hundred in the other years, the next Wednesday before the honorable parties, commanded the feast of Christ 's body, ...", which results in May 24, 1402 results.

Landscape

The wooded area Geest ( Dithmarsch Switzerland) at 72 m above sea Rugebarg. Sea level, the highest point in the community. The well-known " Heidberg " with its 46 m above sea level. The current on the border to the municipality Schrum creek is named in Neocorus as early as 1600 with Kellihorn - vagina - Beek and presented simultaneously between Welmbüttel and Schrum the boundary between the two is Dithmar ( Neocorus vol II page 267 ). The two large forest areas Norder Wahld and district forestry are now an attraction for hikers and recreation seekers. Through human intervention arose in district forestry area until the 19th century a large heath area that was later ( 1905) again, closed by forest cover, especially with pine trees. Economy and infrastructure

From 1905 to 1937, the town had a railway connection with the circular path Norderdithmarschen.
