Grambow, Uecker-Randow

Grambow is a municipality in the district of Vorpommern - Greifswald in eastern Mecklenburg -Vorpommern ( Germany ). It belongs to the Official Löcknitz Penkun based in the community Löcknitz.

Geography

The municipality is located in the ground moraine Grambow between the Randowbruch on the border to Brandenburg and the lower Oder valley near Stettin ( Szczecin). The hilly terrain reaches 75 m above sea level. NN (southeast of Ladenthin ).

From 1993 to 2004, the population of the municipality has reduced by over 10 % (from 1,152 to 974 ).

History

Early 1930 Grambow was still a rural municipality in the district of Pomerania. It consisted of the three districts Grambow Grambow station and steam mill Grambow.

  • In the community Grambow is a built of fieldstone village church, which is several hundred years old.
  • Characteristic of the districts Ladenthin, Schwennenz and Sonnenberg are the more than 700 year old stone churches.
  • The biotope Hägesee - silting Moor is located nearby.
  • Grambow has to offer a special natural monument with a 300 year old mulberry tree.

The Grambow railway station is about 500 meters northeast of the main town on the railway line Biitzow - Szczecin and is the last before the Polish border.

A few hundred meters to the east of the district Schwennenz there is a border crossing for pedestrians after Bobolin ( Boblin ) (Republic of Poland).
