History

Compared to other places in the area Liepgarten has a much longer history. Before Germanization in the course of eastward expansion, there was in the place a Slavic settlement called Lipagor ( in German: Lindenberg, first reference 1241 ). The owners of the town changed frequently, from 1270 it belonged to the newly founded city Ueckermuende. From 1496 Liepgarten was the Duke's possession again. In the turmoil of the Thirty Years' War the place was even temporarily uninhabited. Gradually, the entire area and the inhabitants recovered opened new lines of business in addition to agriculture.

From the beginning of the 18th century, tar was burned, the end of the 19th century many brickworks, Liepgartens, which had 1,072 inhabitants in 1895, were only three in operation. In the cold season, the sound was crisp, starting in the spring, it was dried and fired. A special feature was the difference in color: the brick west of the Uecker produced were red, the yellow from the opposite side. Liepgartens lived up to the Second World War, some families of the Kahnschifferei. 1933 reached the population with 1,220 residents a climax.

The image Liepgartens has changed since the political change. A new pavement replaced in 1993 the old paving of local road and new trees were planted. In the middle is the Liepgartens built in the 15th century church. Some houses from the period have survived that still dot the village.

Jädkemühl was formerly Gödeke Möhlen, suggesting a former mill.

Stark hole was created as one of the so-called Dutch land, which has been derived from the settlement patterns ( the neighboring south Liepgartens named Torgelow - Holländerei ). Between the two districts were the now dehydrated White Moor. Thanks to an environmental group flourishes now back the White cotton grass, which once gave the name of the field.
