Mölschow

Mölschow is a municipality in the northern part of the island of Usedom in Mecklenburg- Vorpommern. It belongs to the district of Vorpommern - Greifswald and is administered by the Office of Usedom -Nord, located in the city Zinnowitz. By 2005, the community was part of the Office on the Peene estuary.

Geography and transport

Mölschow between Zinnowitz and between Wolgast Peene river and the Baltic Sea coast. Federal highway 111 crosses the area, which can also be reached with the UBB car over the station Bannemin - Mölschow on the railway line Ducherow - Heringsdorf - Wolgast ferry. About six kilometers to the west is the town of Wolgast, and five kilometers east of the headquarters Zinnowitz.

On 1 July 2010, the parts which lie north of the federal highway 111 were handed over by the municipality Krummin to the community Mölschow. These were affected to approximately 19.6 ha 23 inhabitants.

History

Mölschow 1182 was first documented as Malcekow. The place name probably derives from the nearby lake " Molechowe ". In 1278, the Pomeranian Duke Barnim I enfeoffed the German knights Voss with the goods Krummin, Zinnowitz and Mölschow. In 1302, took over the convent Wollin Mölschow, then it went to the convent Krummin. In 1534, the monastery became a princely Kammergut.

Under the Thirty Years' War, the region had much to suffer. After the Peace of Westphalia in 1648 Mölschow as all of Pomerania became Swedish, Prussian after 1720. In 1911 Mölschow received a rail connection.

On May 13, 1925 destroyed a devastating conflagration Mölschow. Seven years later, in addition to the domain Mölschow six farmers, a small barn and 20 houses with 148 inhabitants mentioned.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms was approved on 26 January 1998 by the Home Office and registered under No. 149 of the coat of arms role of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.

Blazon: " Split, front in blue with a silver anchor, surmounted by three golden rapeseed flowers with red slug beams as; back in silver half -spoked wheel on the blue gap. "

The coat of arms was designed by the Wismar Roland Born bill.
