Torgelow-Holländerei

Torgelow - Holländerei, also called Torgelow - Holl, is a municipality in the district of Vorpommern - Greifswald in eastern Mecklenburg -Vorpommern ( Germany ). The community is on the Szczecin Lagoon, based in Eggesin managed by the Office.

Geography

The municipality is situated on the west bank of the lower Uecker and extends to approximately 9 km between Liepgarten and Torgelow.

History

1619, at the beginning of the Thirty Years' War, the area of the lower Uecker was colonized by settlers from the Danzig territory. The area of ​​the mouth of the Vistula at Danzig was originally settled by the Dutch, who there the settlement model of Holländerei introduced, which was associated with a loosely woven and the draining of the marshy meadows. This model was taken from there to the Uecker. With settlers from Holland, the name has thus only very indirectly to do something. It emerged widely spaced Dutch estates, so Alt Torgelow, Beeskow, Düsterort, Mr. Kamp, Dog Mountain, Virgin Beck, Small Dunzig, penny Horst, Quappenberg, Seefeldt and goats mountain. Later, the Dutch estates United Dunzig, Hassel mountain, dog bag, Jägersteig, Kattenberg Schulz and Berg were added.

Surrounded by forest, in a quiet village location has now become a preferred residential location.

Transport links

The community is located between the three cities Ueckermuende, Eggesin and Torgelow. From these places consists of rail connection to Pasewalk.
