Allen Parish, Louisiana

The Allen Parish (French: Paroisse d' Allen) is a parish located in the U.S. state of Louisiana. In 2010, the Parish had 25,764 inhabitants and a population density of 13 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( Parish Seat) is Oberlin.

History

The Allen Parish was formed on June 12, 1912 from portions of Calcasieu Parish. It was named after Henry Watkins Allen (1820-1866), a former governor of the non- allied with the Union part of Louisiana during the Civil War.
