The Washington Parish (French: Paroisse de Washington) is a parish located in the state of Louisiana in the United States. In 2010, the Parish had 47 168 inhabitants and a population density of 27.2 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( Parish Seat) is Franklinton.

History

The Washington Parish was formed in 1819 from parts of St. Tammany Parish. It was named after George Washington (1732-1799), the first president of the United States.
