Campoli Appennino

Campoli Apennines is a town in Lazio, Frosinone in central Italy with 1768 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012). It is located 37 km north-east of Frosinone and 119 km east of Rome.

Geography

Campoli Apennines located on a hill overlooking the valley of Lacerno above Sora on the edge of the Parco Nazionale d'Abruzzo. It is a member of the Comunità Montana Valle di Comino.

Attractions

Campoli has a walled medieval town, which is still surrounded by a complete city wall.

  • At the highest point of the village stands the 25 m high tower was built in the 9th century on an older base of Landolfo d' Aquino.
  • The medieval parish church of Sant'Andrea Apostolo the Baroque style in the 17th century.
  • A kilometer outside the village stands in an impressive landscape which was built in 1594 the church of San Pancrazio.
  • Within the area are the remains of an ancient aqueduct, the so-called Acquedotto di Nerone obtained.
  • In Centro Orso is informed about the life of the bears in the nearby Parco Nazionale d'Abruzzo. ( Closed in 2008 ).

Specialty

In the area of Campoli truffle varieties Tuber aestivum, Tuber brumale and Tuber Magnatum be found. On the third weekend in June, the feast of the Black Truffle and on the third weekend of the White Truffle Festival will be held in November.
