Pofi

Pofi is a municipality in the province of Frosinone in the Italian region Latium, located about 4274 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012). It is located 97 km southeast of Rome and 14 km southeast of Frosinone.

Geography

Pofi situated on a hill above the valley of the Sacco in the countryside of Ciociaria.

The nearby towns are Arnara, Castro dei Volsci, Ceccano, Ceprano and Ripi.

Traffic

Pofi is just off the A1 Autostrada del Sole motorway, although the nearest exit Ceprano is 11 km away.

With the Castro Pofi -Valle Corsa station of the village lies on the railway line Rome - Naples.

History

In the ancient world were located in the municipality of Pofi villas that belonged to the territory of Fregellae. In the 10th century a first castle to secure the Via Latina was built, which was directly under the Pope. 1186 was Pofi of Henry VI. destroyed. In the 14th century, the Caetani came into the possession of Pofi. In the 15th century they were followed by the Colonna, who ruled until 1816 about the place.

Policy

Ennio Bove ( Lista Civica Renewal by Pofi ) was elected in May 2007 to the mayor. His left list also provides citizens with 11 of 16 seats, the majority in the City Council.
