European Tour 2012/2013 – Event 6

The Munich Open ( according to the main sponsor and as the arcades Munich Open called ) was a snooker tournament, which was held in 2012 and 2013. Last year the tournament was called the FFB Snooker Open, 2012.

The Munich Open were the last of the 13 singles tournaments in the Players Tour Championship 2012/13 and the last chance to qualify for the Tour Finals. Like last year, the tournament was divided into two, but with one change: The first two rounds end of November 2012 were held in England, the remaining 32 participants played in the first week of January 2013 the winner in Fürstenfeldbruck. In the previous year there were three rounds held in Sheffield and only the best 16 players had come to Germany. The mode with a top -32 final tournament had previously been practiced in Gdynia Open 2012.

132 players have registered for the tournament, but many top players remained the tournament away, including the interim World Ranking Leading Judd Trump and four other top-10 players.

It was won by Englishman Mark Selby, who had taken over one months earlier with his victory in the UK Championship number 1 in the rankings. Selby had won in Fürth and the other German tournament of the European Tour, Paul Hunter Classic.

The entire tournament including the final was played in best- of-seven - mode ( four winning frames).

Preliminary round

On 26 and 27 November 2012, the first part of the tournament was held in the Sheffield Snooker Academy. Eight players had to play a preliminary round to complete the C128 field of the first round.
