FC Zürich

FC Zurich ( FCZ abbreviated ) is a football club from the city of Zurich. The club colors are blue and white since 1909 ( previously red and white). It was founded on 1 August 1896 by former members of the three local clubs FC Turicum, Excelsior FC and FC Viktoria and is one of the oldest and most traditional sports clubs in Switzerland.

The first team plays in the Axpo Super League and won the championship so far twelve times and seven times the Swiss Cup. International was able to celebrate successes in 1964 and 1977, when they came up in the semi-finals of the European Cup of Champions.

History

1896-1924: The founding

The FC Zurich was originally from the FC Turicum ( Turicum is the Roman name of the city of Zurich ). Once this merged with FC, Excelsior was founded FC Zurich on August 1, 1896. A little later, the members of FC Viktoria joined the Confederation. The first two championship titles ( in 1902 and 1924 ) have been implemented at this time.

1960-1981: The Golden Years

Stadium

The home ground of FC Zurich is the Letzigrund with a capacity of 26,500 spectators. From summer 2006 to summer 2007, this stadium was rebuilt for the 2008 European Football Championship. Supporter Association
