Kröv

Kröv, official spelling to 16 July 1936: Cröv, is a municipality in the district of Bernkastel -Wittlich, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Kröv - Bausendorf and is the seat Kröv is a nationally recognized resort and recognized as a basic center in accordance with state planning.

Geography

Kröv lies on the Moselle between the city of Traben-Trarbach and Kinheim. The municipality comprises the main town and the much smaller district Kövenig to the east of Kröv and is separated by the ridge of Mont Royal from her.

History

The place name derives from the original Gallo-Roman croviacum, the later Merovingian royal estate was. The first written mention of the town was under the Carolingian king Lothar II in 862 Kröv was part of Kröver Empire, a former royal property of the Carolingians, which was able to maintain certain privileges to the French Revolution. The French Revolution ended the existence of the Kröver Empire. The village belonged until 1814 to the French Departement de la Sarre, after the final defeat of Napoleon I of Prussia. Since 1946 it has been part of Rhineland- Palatinate.

Baldur von Schirach

The National Socialist and Hitler Youth leader Baldur von Schirach retired after his release from prison in 1966 after Kröv, where he died a few years later (1974) and was buried. Schirach's grave stone on the Kröver cemetery bears the inscription "I was one of you ."

Rockslide 1992

On the crest of Kröv Mosel opposite slope a rock body of a total of 90,000 m3 located in movement was detected in December 1991. Despite a low rainfall period, the breaks and columns enlarged. On 23 May 1992, the rock masses were controlled to crash through a breakup.

Parish council

The local council in Kröv consists of 16 council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 of personalized proportional representation, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Viniculture

Viticulture is an important industry Krövs. The vines are cultivated in the districts of Kröv and Kövenig on about 350 acres partly on steep slopes. This Riesling is grown predominantly; Müller -Thurgau, Kerner and spine fields are also produced in the shallower layers.

The vineyards Krövs belong to the major site Kröver Nacktarsch.

Infrastructure

In Kröv there is a kindergarten and a primary school. Through the village leads the federal highway 53 in the district Kövenig there is a breakpoint on the Mosel wine - track, the track Traben-Trarbach - Bullay.
