Lübs

Lübs is a German municipality in the district of Vorpommern - Greifswald in eastern Mecklenburg -Vorpommern. The community is on the Szczecin Lagoon, based in Eggesin managed by the Office.

Geography

The municipality is situated on the western edge of the Lübs Ueckermünder Heath, only a few km from the Szczecin Lagoon. The terrain is mostly flat, southwest of the community extends the Friedländer Große Wiese, a north about 20 km ² large forest area ( Anklamer city forest ).

History

The name comes from Lübs = Lipa from the Slavic word for Linde. The Slavs followed in the wake of the German eastward expansion by settlers from west -lying areas.

The village and the lands and the forest was after the Thirty Years' War and, inter alia, even until the expropriation in 1945 long in the possession of those of bark or of Borcke.

In the next place of traditional agriculture and the trade was represented, there were still various crafts.

The nearly 500 -year-old Lübser church was rebuilt in 1897 ( as a brick ).

On 1 January 1998 Lübs moved from the Mecklenburg Western Pomerania in the district of Uecker -Randow. Both districts went to the newly established district Vorpommern - Greifswald on September 4, 2011.

The community Lübs pulls today offer favorable terms and the quiet residential area in the countryside on mostly young families. Tourism is slowly plays a greater role, which is mainly due to the Haffnähe.

Lübs is located about 3 km from the B 109 ( Prenzlau Anklam ) away. The nearest train stations are in Ducherow and Ferdinandshof on the railway line Angermuende - Stralsund and in Ueckermuende on the railway line Jatznick - Ueckermuende.
