Players Tour Championship 2012/2013 – Event 3

The UK PTC 3 was a snooker tournament, which was held from 5 to 9 September 2012 in the South West Snooker Academy in Gloucester. It was part of the Players Tour Championship 2012/13 and was the third of four UK tournaments in the series.

156 players have registered for the tournament. Tournament was for all games including Final Best of seven ( four winning frames).

For the first time this season the complete top 16 in the world rankings with a PTC tournament at the start, and Ding Junhui and Ronnie O'Sullivan, who had finished his time out in Gloucester. Surprise winner was Rod Lawler, who celebrated his first tournament victory on the tour in his 23rd year as a pro.

Preliminary round

98 players had their place in the main round sure the other 86 claimant played on 5 and 6 September, the 30 remaining seats. In the first preliminary round left 26, in the second preliminary round 30 applicants from.

All qualifying matches were played on four profit frames ( Best-of- Seven). The winners are highlighted in bold, small. means that the player is fed without a fight ( by non-appearance of the enemy ) in the next round.

Biggest surprise of the first round was the end of Stephen Maguire, who had previously become the first once and second once at the UK - PTCs in Gloucester. His opponent Marco Fu after defeating Mark Williams and Ricky Walden two more top-10 players. Also, the second of the first tournament, Jack Lisowski, was denied by the British Zak Surety, which reached as the only amateur round 3. Reanne Evans, the only female top player, managed for the first time in a PTC tournament in round 2 was disappointing, the return of Ronnie O'Sullivan after his short break, against Simon Bedford he drew the short straw at the opening. The world number one and tournament winner of the Paul Hunter Classic 2012 two weeks earlier lost in round 3 against the Welshman Dominic Dale. Neil Robertson and John Higgins came for the third time this season also are not round 3 addition. Also, Ding Junhui, who had made himself scarce until then in Europe, lost his third tournament match against Ken Doherty. With Judd Trump, Shaun Murphy and Stephen Lee reached only three players from the top ten in the final day.

Biggest surprise in the second round was the Neuprofi Chen Zhe, who could beat the number 21 in the world rankings with almost 4:3 among others, Andrew Higginson. However, Ali Carter was too strong for him. The world number two Judd Trump got off to a false start in the Sunday and was eliminated by Robert Milkins. Neither Carter nor Milkins reached the semifinals, because Marco Fu or Shaun Murphy maintained against them in the next round the upper hand.
