Tiefenbach, Rhineland-Palatinate
Tiefenbach is a municipality in the Hunsrück in the Rhein- Hunsrück district, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality simmering / Hunsrück. Tiefenbach has grown together from the districts of Lower and Upper Tiefenbach.

Geography
Tiefenbach is situated in the Hunsrück in the valley of Brühl creek on the north side of the Soonwald.
History
The early history Tiefenbach is connected to the Wild Castle, which was first mentioned in 1253. Later was located at the northern foot of the Soonwald Tiefenbach part of Palatinate - simmering, which in 1556 introduced the Reformation. 1673 was the place to Electoral Palatinate and has been with the occupation of the left bank of the Rhine in 1794 by French revolutionary troops part of France. In 1815 he was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia at the Congress of Vienna. 1912, a chapel was built. After the First World War, the town was temporarily occupied by the French again. In the 1930s, the local ore mine Märkerei was shut down. Since 1946 it has been part of Rhineland- Palatinate then newly founded. In 1961 the Protestant church was built.
1921 Tiefenbach received a railroad connection with the station building, this railway line simmering - Gemünden ( Hunsrück) was shut down in 1963, to 1965, all tracks have been removed. By 2006, the track was still a viaduct present, which was then blown up due to disrepair. The embankment is northeast of Tiefenbach remain. The last road underpass of the dam was demolished in August 2009.

Parish council
The local council in Tiefenbach consists of twelve council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 a proportional representation, and the honorary mayor as chairman. After the election of the members are spread over a total of two groups of voters
Coat of arms
The coat of arms shows the top of the diamond pattern of the Palatinate hammer and mallet for the former iron mine. The Palatinate Lion in the lower right corner also refers to the former dominion of the Palatinate. The silver belt buckle in the right half represents the Barons of Schmidt Castle, the Earl Wild, who had several farmsteads in the village. The coat of arms was approved on 22 September 1980 by the then District Government Koblenz.

Village life
The Wild castle hall was built as a multi-purpose hall in 1988. Several clubs, including a men's choir (oldest local association, founded in 1903 ), a sports club, a motor sports club and the volunteer fire department, make sociable and cultural life in the village. There is also a Protestant school.

The Schinderhannes Soonwaldsteig cycle path from Gemünden after simmering runs through the town. Further away is the newly created trail " Soonwaldsteig ".
