The seventh edition of the Wimbledon Championships took place in 1883 on the grounds of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on Worple Road instead. The defending champion William Renshaw won the tournament for the third time in a row. The field consisted of 22 players next to the title holder.

Men's Singles

In the All- Comers Competition already met in the first round - along with William Renshaw - most players Ernest Renshaw and Herbert Lawford, each other, a set list was at that time still unknown. After Lawford was already leading 5-0 in the decisive fifth set, hit Renshaw from below with cut balls. His fees were also blown away by a strong wind, so that Lawford hit a lot of balls into the air. Lawford was the sentence, and thus the game, winning 6-5.

In the All- Comers final Ernest Renshaw defeated the Englishman Donald Charles Stewart in four sets. The Challenge Round was won in a remake of last year's William against his twin brother Ernest in itself.
