The 61st edition of the Wimbledon Championships took place in 1947 on the grounds of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club on Church Road instead.

On the opening day, a new record has been set up with around 20,000 spectators; on the first Saturday appeared even 30,000 spectators. On Friday of the second week in addition visited King George VI. and Queen Elizabeth the tournament. Jack Kramer was the first to victor in the men's short pants.

Men's Singles

Jack Kramer won his only Wimbledon singles title.

Women's Singles

In the women won Margaret Osborne duPont -. In the final, she defeated Doris Hart in two sentences.

Men's doubles

In the men's doubles Bob Falkenburg and Jack Kramer won.

Women Doubles

In the women's doubles Doris Hart and Patricia Todd won the title.

Mixed

In mixed Louise Brough and John Bromwich won.
