History

The first mention of Bear Creek dates back to 1103. During the years 1234-1437 the city belonged to the counts of Sponheim was. In the following centuries the ownership changed hands several times between the Margrave of Baden, Count Palatine of the Rhine and the Counts of Veldenz.
