Forrest County, Mississippi

The Forrest County is a county located in the U.S. state of Mississippi. The seat of the county government ( County Seat) and largest city is located in Hattiesburg, which was named after Hardy Hattie, the wife of the town's founder, Captain WH Hardy.

History

The Forrest County was formed on April 19, 1906 from parts of Perry County. It was named after Nathan Bedford Forrest, a lieutenant general of the Confederate States of America and early organizer of the Ku Klux Klan.
