Krackow, Germany

Krackow [ kra ː ko] is a municipality in the district of Vorpommern - Greifswald in the extreme southeast of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern ( Germany ). The community is managed by the Office Löcknitz Penkun based in the community Löcknitz.

Geography

The community Krackow is in the southeast corner of the state of Mecklenburg -Western Pomerania between the Randow ( border to Brandenburg and at 4 km municipal boundary ) and the 10-15 km away Or in the east. The village Krackow located 25 km southeast of the city Pasewalk and 20 km south-west of the center of Stettin ( Szczecin, Poland). In the west, the municipality share of Randowbruch. But the greater part is located on the hilly Grundmoränenrücken. There is, especially in the east of the church, several small lakes; the largest area is the Lebehnsche lake in the northeast. Near the village of Schuckmann height is the clear lake is a swimming lake. The water level of Seegrabens which drains a lake south of the community to Randow out in the village Krackow 14 m above the Randow. The heights of the hilltops are about 40 m above sea level.

History

Krackow: The name is of Slavic origin, "place of crows " could mean or be derived from krk ( "neck" ) and related to the geographic location in a river valley between lakes and the wide Randowtal. The first written mention of the town took place in 1271.

Battinsthal was created in the 17th century as the Barbican, in the manor park, there is a grave chapel.

Schuckmann height was created in 1824 by Chamberlain Carl Friedrich von Schuckmann as Vorwerk of Battinsthal.

High wood is over 700 years old and was formerly a manor. The local stone church with half-timbered tower was renovated. The manor house, a two-storey plastered brick building, was built in 1840 in baroque style for the family of Eickstedt who owned the estate from 1280 to 1945.

Lebehn was first mentioned in 1490. Together with the place Kyritz (first mentioned 1523) is Lebehn in a Lake District.

The population has declined slightly since 1990.

Incorporations

Battinsthal and Hohenholz already were incorporated on 15 October 1950, when it still belonged to the district of Prenzlau Lebehn was incorporated on 13 June 2004.

Krackow is located on the main road 113, 3.5 km north of the motorway exit Penkun on the Autobahn 11 (Berlin- Stettin). The border crossings to Poland are just a few kilometers ( Mescherin, Rosow, Pomellen, left ). Tourist the community is connected through the Oder- Neisse Cycle.
