Mission overview

Soyuz TMA -14 was launched on 26 March 2009 at 11:49 UTC from Baikonur, Kazakhstan. Also on board was the American software developer Charles Simonyi, who graduated from becoming the first space tourist, two flights into space. During the automatic approach as to the ISS on March 28, the onboard computer reported 150 meters before docking erroneously a control nozzle failure and the capsule would have again led away from the station. Then Gennady Padalka pilot decided together with the control to manually resume the approach maneuver and coupled at 13:05 UTC, nine minutes ahead of schedule, successfully. 16:36 UTC the lock between Soyuz and ISS was opened, and the crew was received by members of the ISS Expedition 18.

The spacecraft remained docked to the space station until 11 October 2009. With the decoupling of the ISS Expedition 20 was officially ended. On his return journey it took Padalka and Barratt except also the space tourists Guy Laliberté back to Earth.
