1993 Tippeligaen

The Tippeligaen 1993 was the 49th season of Norway's highest football league and the third season under the name Tippeligaen. The season began on 1 May 1993 and ended with the third relegation match on 27 October 1993.

Mode

Twelve teams played in the league in a simple round-trip round against each other, so that each team completed 22 games. The tenth -place and prevent third last had to do to avoid relegation in addition relegation matches against the two third of the first Divisjon (Group A and B).

Season

Last year's champion Rosenborg BK was able to defend his title. They were only a total of five games at the top. The promoted Fyllingen IL had after just one season back in the first Divisjon dismount. The champions Rosenborg BK did not qualify for the Champions League, because Norway was in the UEFA five year ranking to poorly placed. Instead, they had to participate in the UEFA Cup.

Play off

Molde FK had a third from bottom in the relegation against Bryne FK and Strømsgodset IF, the third of the first Divisjon (Group A and B). With two wins Strømsgodset IF reached the climb.
