1999 Tippeligaen

The Tippeligaen 1999 was the 55th season of Norway's highest football league and the ninth season under the name Tippeligaen. The season began on April 10, 1999 and ended on 31 October 1999 with the second qualification game.

Mode

The fourteen teams in the league played in a single round-trip round against each other, so that each team completed 26 games. The two last placed athlete had to dismount. The third last had to play in home and away leg against third- placed teams from the first Divisjon to the whereabouts in the Tippeligaen.

Season

Rosenborg BK won for the eighth consecutive year the Norwegian championship. It was also the 14th championship for the team. In addition, they also secured the cup and thus won the sixth double of the league and cup.

At the beginning of the season was Molde several times at the top. From the eighth matchday was then only Rosenborg as league leaders. But the team was able to pull a maximum of five points from the competition. Until a few games before the end of the season there were several teams who could win the Tippeligaen. With five victories in a row and simultaneous blunders of the other teams, Rosenborg could settle preliminary decision. On 24 Matchday they secured the championship then prematurely. Molde was able to secure through a victory in the last game against direct competitors Lillestrøm second place. The promoted Odd Grenland could stay in the Tippeligaen. The second climber Skeid Oslo, however, had to go back to the 1st Divisjon.
