Moricone

Moricone is a municipality in the province of Rome in the Italian region Latium, located about 2716 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012).

Geography

Moricone is located 47 km northeast of Rome and 24 km north of Tivoli. The village lies on a spur of the Lucretili north of Tivoli. The municipality and the district Osteria Moricone belongs in the plane of the Tiber valley. The municipality covers an altitude 68-644 m slm Moricone is a member of the Comunità Montana Monti Sabini e Tiburtini.

The municipality is located in the seismic zone 2 (medium endangered).

The neighboring municipalities are Monteflavio, Monte Libretti, Montorio Romano and Palombara Sabina.

Traffic

Moricone is located on State Road 636 which connects the Via Salaria with Tivoli and the A24 highway, driveway Tivoli. The nearest railway station is located in Monte Libretti in the regional rail line FR1 from Rome Fiumicino Airport via Rome Tiburtina to Orte at 15 km.
