Pedro Waldemar Manfredini

Waldemar Pedro Manfredini ( born September 7, 1935 in Maipu de Mendoza ) is a former Argentine footballer, he played at the position of center forward.

His nickname was Piedone ( in German: Puvel ), he was given this nickname because of a photo that showed Oversized because of a mistake his right foot. This even though he had a fairly normal foot size with a shoe size of 43. During its heyday in the 1960s Manfredini was a real goal machine and therefore was also a member of the Argentine national soccer team. A particular specialty of Manfredini was to achieve hat-tricks. He achieved, for example, against local rivals Lazio in a memorable match all three goals for AS Roma and led his team in order to win.

The club career

Manfredini began his career with Argentine club Racing Club de Avellaneda. For the season 1958/59 changed Manfredini, who was completely unknown in Italy at that time, for 78 million lire to AS Roma, where he played in the sequence a total of 7 seasons. From the beginning, he was able to convince in Rome, as he scored in his first season already 15 results. During this time he was one of the most goals in the Serie A, he scored many of his matches by first successfully challenged half the opponent's defense, before he coolly put the ball in the goal untenable. So it was no wonder that Manfredini could enjoy at the Roma fans a very large popularity. As a result, Manfredini now scored fewer goals and was therefore used less frequently, which is why he moved to Brescia Calcio for the 1965/66 season. But here he could not sustainable prevail, which is why he moved after just one season to the AC Venice, where he ended his career as a professional football player.
