Sergio Brighenti

Sergio Brighenti ( born September 23, 1932 in Modena ) was an Italian football player, he played at the position of center forward.

The club career

Brighenti began his career in his hometown at the then Serie B club FC Modena, where he came in his first season, 1949/50, only one use. But already in the following season, Brighenti played in the starting line- of Modena. After two good seasons Brighenti moved to season 1952/53, in the Serie A Inter Milan. Here he already won the Scudetto in his first season and in the season 1953/54, could the Milanese with Brighenti defend the title. In total he played here for three seasons, but without being able to fully enforce against competitors such as Benito Lorenzi. Nevertheless, he distinguished himself through his regular Torerfolge.

For the 1955/56 season Brighenti then moved to U.S. Triestina, in the first season of League receipt could be celebrated. However Triestina went into the next season starting in the B series. Therefore Brighenti moved to Padova Calcio, who were then coached by Nereo Rocco. The tactics Rocco, the Catenaccio was perfectly tailored to the counter striker Brighenti. Therefore, Padova binned in the season 1957/58 on the excellent third place. In the following season 1958/59 they finished seventh and 1959/60 they finished at the end of the season in fifth place.

For the 1960/61 season Brighenti moved to Sampdoria. Here he was in his first season with a total of 27 goals scorer in Serie A. Brighenti played two more seasons in Genoa, but not scored as many goals as listed in the 1960 / 61st For the season 1963/64, Brighenti returned to his hometown club FC Modena, who had since been promoted to the Serie A. Brighenti scored 10 goals for Modena, although the club was relegated to Serie B, whereupon Brighenti moved to AC Torino. Here, however, he played only one game before Brighenti trailed off his successful career at the end of the season 1964/65.

The National Players

During his time at Inter Brighenti was the jump in the U-21 national team and shortly afterwards succeeded to the senior national team of Italy. On May 6, 1959 succeeded Brighenti, then playing with Padova Calcio, in the game against Charlton Bobby England in the venerable Wembley Stadium a gateway to the current 1:2.
