Carroll County (Missouri)

The Carroll County is a county located in the U.S. state of Missouri. In 2010, the County had 9295 inhabitants and a population density of 5.2 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Carrollton.

Geography

The County is located in the central northwestern Missouri on the north bank of the Missouri River west of the mouth of the Grand River. It has an area of 1819 square kilometers, of which 20 square kilometers are water surface. At the Carroll County borders the following Nachbarcountys:

History

The Carroll County was formed on January 2, 1833 from parts of the Ray County. It was named, as well as the city of Carrollton, according to Charles Carroll (1737-1832), one of the founders and co-signer of the Declaration of Independence of the United States.
