Scotland County (Missouri)

The Scotland County is one county in the U.S. state of Missouri. In 2010, the County had 4843 inhabitants and a population density of 4.3 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Memphis.

Geography

The County is located in the extreme north of Missouri and adjacent to Iowa. It has an area of 1138 square kilometers, of which 2 square kilometers is water area. At the Scotland County borders the following Nachbarcountys:

History

The Scotland County was formed in 1841 from parts of Lewis County. It was named after Scotland, the origin of many immigrants.

According to the census in 2010 lived in Scotland County 4843 people in 1980 households. The population density was 4.3 people per square kilometer. In the 1980 households lived statistically 2.38 per person.
