The Texas County is a county located in the U.S. state of Missouri. In 2010, the County had 26 008 inhabitants and a population density of 8.5 inhabitants per square kilometer. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Houston, which was named after the city in Texas.
Geography
The County is located in south-central Missouri in the Ozark Plateau and is approximately 80 km away from Arkansas. It has an area of 3054 square kilometers, of which 2 square kilometers is water area. At the Texas County borders the following Nachbarcountys:
History
The Texas County was formed in 1845. It was named after the Republic of Texas.
